Mr. White’s -A letter concerning letters to the editor-

Excuse me for the analysis that might be too close to home, but what baggage does the “editor” bring to our letters to the editor. I have sent numerous letters over the past three years concerning pertinent issues and still no admissions. Granted, myself, I am always submitting letters that started well over the limit, but I always manage to widdle them down to the accepted 250 words; in fact, many of the letters online are well enough over this limit.

I think the problem might be that I present arguments for my positions. It is almost impossible to present a proper argument in 250 words but I do my best. I think the letters to the editor are meant only to be letters of “truly heartfelt” praise or letters of irrational experiential ramblings. I am at 136 words and I have only made a bare conclusion without context so this letter must be headed for publication. The lesson is to just say what you feel; do not try and think about, contextualize, and rationalize your position (they have reporters for that). Also do not make bold statements like, “In fact, humans are not free when they can choose anything and everything; they are free when they choose what is best, and our government should reflect this fact.”
The “editor” is only looking out for us, or rather the profit margin, so just follow these lessons and you too can read your letter to the editor in printed type. Uh oh, I am over 250 words.
